A Year in Review

As we wrap up 2019, we want to thank our clients and the BSB team for contributing to another year of growth for BSB Communications.

We were proud to add a number of new commercial clients to our portfolio this year. Chief among them were BeneSys Administrators, Inc., Doherty Hotel, English Gardens, and Haas Door.

BSB also upgraded or expanded the unified communication systems of existing clients like Buff Whelan, Goldfish Swim Schools, Hagopian World of Rugs, IBI, LG Chem, and Living Essentials.

This past year, we continued to leverage Mitel’s exclusive Unified Communications contract with Sourcewell (a cooperative purchasing organization) to offer cost effective proposals to public sector and nonprofit organizations throughout the State of Michigan and Northwest Ohio.

New BSB clients in this space include the City of Flint, Fowlerville Community Schools, Hillsdale County, Hope College, Mid-Michigan Community College, the Charter Township of Waterford and Ypsilanti Community Utility Authority.

E911 Compliance and Kari's Law

In case you missed the e911 class at our BSB Techtober event, you now have another year to get e911 compliant. The new deadline is December 31, 2020 for any workspace in excess of 20,000 square feet and 20 devices. A single address alone is not granular enough to accurately identify a 911 caller in a large space. This is why BSB offers multiple methods to identify a caller’s location with accuracy down to the building, floor, or room level.

As a reminder, there is still Federal Law, Kari’s Law, currently that states that direct outward dialing of 911 must be able to connect without dialing a prefix ie an 8 or a 9.  If you have any questions, please contact us!

BSB will be hosting an informational class about e911 and your Mitel system. Please be on the lookout for more information.

Mitel SWA and Upcoming Changes

Mitel Software Assurance (SWA) was designed to complement BSB’s service offers, giving you the security of staying current with the latest functionality and innovations delivered for the Mitel solutions. Every day, your employees rely on communications, collaboration and contact center solutions to help drive the continued growth of the business. Just like your business, communications technologies are evolving all the time to enable even more value and integrate more tightly with business tools your employees utilize every day.

Windows 7 End of Life Countdown!

  Are you Prepared?

After this date, Microsoft will no longer develop countermeasures or fixes to address security breaches, exploits, viruses, and cyberattacks, leaving Windows 7 computers vulnerable. There are a number of Mitel applications (e.g., Oaisys call recording, Phone Manager, CSM, Xarios) that BSB clients may be running on PC’s/servers running a Windows 7 operating system.

For some time now, Microsoft and the broader media have been warning that as of January 14th 2020 they will no longer support or provide security updates, bug fixes and patches for the Windows 7 operating system. Your Windows 7 device will continue to work; however, it will no longer be eligible for technical support, which will make your PC/server vulnerable to security breaches and viruses. BSB strongly recommends that you take immediate action and do one of the following:
